It's been a while since I have posted any new projects. I have been busy building new knives and tools for all the shows, not to mention the custom pieces I've been doing for friends and family for Christmas presents. I decided to post some of the carved wood handle stone knives I have been working on lately. These were gifts for family and they turned out pretty decent. Two of the blades are obsidian that came from Woody, and the other is Flint Ridge that my son Christian and I dug out of the quarry on our last trip. I carved the handles in a kind of simple tribal pattern - two eagle heads and one fish. The handles are made of osage(hedge apple) branches, that came from my wife's cousin's farm in Kentucky. The knives are all about 8"- 9" from tip to tip. Some close-ups.... Silver Sheen Obsidian blade, about 3 1/3"... Black Butter Obsidian blade, about 2 3/4"... Flint Ridge blade with crystal inclusion, about 3"... Thanks for looking! Dave

Beautiful knives, both the blades and the carving on the handles.

Both the blades and the carvings are eye catchers. Together they are awesome.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!! I carve the eagle handles the most, seems like everyone likes them the best. I am also working on a bear and wolf. It takes a while because I do it all with a pocket knife - I need to get better with my Dremel so I can start doing them in antler too instead of all wood.
