That's simply a beautiful display stand! I think most of the scrap metal around here got sold 3-4 years back, but I'm going to keep an eye peeled. What did you use for the ball feet?

I live in the woods just out from the Atlanta industrial district and buy steel for nothing-to get it out of their parking/storage lots. Those balls were chromed ball bearings(3 gallons of them).I let that steel rust and then tumble it.See the pits.Got balls up to 1 inch for such feet, finials, etc All you got to do is offer them penny more per pound than scrappers and to haul it off. Welded this from $1000 worth of used red iron not including shipping containers.2600 feet of 3 inch angle and 1800 feet of 6 inch I-beam.(couple hundred pounds of welding rod:>).

That's a perfect display stand for your specimen. Using salvaged materials is always a first choice as is use what we already have.

I called it a pole barn when code enforcement paid a visit Scott:>It is guest quarters/dog house for me/studio/pole barn/Guiness yard art/steam room. It is being used as a display too Pat.

That's one cool coral display stand, James!! Very nice work!! Is the specimen glued to the steel? Do you have any pics of the building since you finished it?
