My 14 saw is a homebuilt. It's a good saw, but now its got a hiccup. The motor that runs the feed screw is froze up now. As you can see, it's a mongoloid motor, I think its a rotisserie motor. Theres not any room for a real motor and pully it down. Need some ideas. Thanks Clyde

why not get another motor like that? from surplus? just need some idea of RPM and torque. or a rotisserie motor? ...or the LS12 or LS14 feed motor from Lortone?

Grease might be dried up in the gear reduction box. Take the motor completely apart, being careful not to ruin the gasket between the 2 halves of the gear box. Clean everything real good and put new light grease in the gearbox. Button everything up, plug it in and see if it turns. Once the grease dries, it freezes everything up in those little gear reduction motors. If you change the grease once a year, that little motor might outlive you.

If the motor is bad, go to walmart and get a new rotisserie motor, they seel a generic unit for about $20-25 dollars and there ya go !!!

Hi Clyde
the engine is not working? Corrosion caused by bug ...
Step 1: replace engine Step 2: make V-belt tension Step 3: make an engine cover to expose to water (plastic bucket, boxes, etc) Step 4: Enjoy a long operation

I checked motor structure Problem 1: oxidation occurs in the iron axes, bronze bushings and the frame is aluminum (Electrolysis) Problem 2: the engine shaft, V belt hard pull at an angle Problem 3: The motor shaft without bearing Problem 3: The pinion gear as a metal grinder.... Solution 1: Purchase any other type of engine. ( With the shaft bearings.) Solution 2: smoother running in the line unit Solution 3: to system redesign. lateral load off, the motor ( gear ) shaft end. Attachments:

Have you any idea of original shaft speed? I've got two gear motors out of a pellet stove feed, give one to you if it would work, all the way from McMinnville. I don't have the speeds available tonight, times a little tight right now, ma's in OHSU w/some problems. Larry

I was gonna mention, Covington uses that same exact motor/reduction gear for the drive on their saws.
