South zone coral-great color

This is mostly from Zephyr Hills Florida.About the southern most tip of clay in Florida,where pastures hold up to horse traffic.Below this point the magnificient horse farms disappear as the sand cannot take the horse traffic.First experience heat treating large batch





This is a very glassy blue material.It is fracture free and a pleasure to work with.

The whole 28 pound batch took a lot of work to reduce to these chips.But much easier when heat treated.The material breaks w/out surface fractures similar to that in quartzite.And breaks much easier.And breaks with a waxy finish.It also tumbles much faster.Obviously the heat treatment softens it.It is still very tough material.Here are more photos

Great batch you got there! The blue is very pretty! I am going to see if I have some blue in the batch you sent me. It would look awesome in a ring!

Nice job with that heat treating, it ain't easy improving on Mother Nature! Them nice blues look glassy.

That blue is natural and is always underwater,always where the river never dries down to.It is encased in the toughest blue/white clay.
