I have done a few picks. I usually go with a good sturdy agate due to how thin they are. Chuck

I've only made a few and have a lot of trouble trying to cut slabs 1mm-2mm thick! My saw is old and tired,,,,just like me! LOL One of my cousins asked me to make a couple for him so I made 2 out of Mooakite Jasper. I was in the mood so I also made him a little "artsy" thing out of a Brazillian agate and various metals,,,,I used a faceted almandine garnet for the "on/off" light on the amp as it is Connecticuts State mineral and we are from CT. connrock

I've only made a few, but am starting to concentrate on them for my 3 guitar plays young adult sons. I'll see if I can post the photos now. I guess not~!! WHY, even though my photos are tiny, does it keep saying "This forum has attachment space limit. You can not upload photos"?

What size are your photos? If you keep them 640 x 480 you shouldn't have a problem. What do you have against Photobucket? It certainly is easy to use (along the lines of if I can use it, anyone can!)

There is no more allotted storage space on the site to upload straight to the forum ..The only way now is through Photobucket/Flickr or another file share site...John

Speaking of picks... I just got these from Bushmanbilly. Wow:)! He's not kidding that he knows how to make picks... if not for TEENY micromillimeter differences, I'd think they were machine made, and not rocks but plastic... they are that smooth and that perfect individually. And the precision of the thickness...how did you DO that Billy? I gotta say, Billy knows how to make guitar picks (and how to package for shipping too!): Some time ago, he lost a political bet to me...but this was way more than I expected, which I guess goes to show that even Republicans aren't all heartless and selfish:P. Here's the HOARD he sent me... every single one is stunning and incredible... he sent me 10: These 2 are my favorites, the one on the left is the same rock as he showed in his pick above. And I have to show off this packaging... what an ingenious way of doing it, and attention to detail. No wonder you're business is doing so well if you are this meticulous about details: Thanks again Billy, and what a great job!

Bushman didn't have a choice after Helen beat him over the head with a voracious verbal attack.
Poor Billy.
I felt so bad for him.
You should be ashamed Helen.

Bushman didn't have a choice after Helen beat him over the head with a voracious verbal attack. Poor Billy. I felt so bad for him. You should be ashamed Helen. Don't worry James I can take it and I'm not that innocent when it comes to verbal bashing. Helen it takes a very tight vise on the saw. When I say tight I mean the guide rod and that connection of the vise to the rod. Any play and you will get uneven cuts or slab breakage. I took my vise into a machine shop to get new stainless steal bushings and rod. Also keep the guide rod clean. I wipe and re-oil mine about every 5 slabs. Every time I clean my saw I use a SOS pad one the rod to polish it. Top l-R (first picture) Pet-wood/Catmandew, Black Brazilian - Ebay Wild horse x 2, Original Owyhee - Catmandew, Black Bazilian O. Owyhee, Purple Filament Agate - Riverbend, Synthetic Quartz - Ron"s Rocks ebay, Wild horse Thanks for the good words Helen glad you like them.

I am aware. I just like to get a jab in on Helen once in a while. Your picks are super fine. She is lucky to receive such a fine batch.
If she offers a glass make sure you take her up on it.

Who said I was offering anything? LOL!
Actually, I'm sending you something too Billy, those are mighty fine picks there, and I appreciate them a lot:).
As for the banjo characters, I think they look like JamesP and Scott 30 years ago. The rocking chair one can't be your wife's relative JamesP, that's Scott back in the good ol' days, that I'm sure he still misses:). You're just so old you forgot:).
