While this Petoskey "stone" cannot exactly be cut and polished, it was a fun find. It is located right off of the Lake Michigan shore in a few feet of water. When the waves are big, which is always, the entire rock is exposed. Each of the white area is a Petoskey coral head that embedded in a shale matrix. For those of you that travel up to the Leelanau Pennisula, it can be found at the following coordinates.

You don't provide a scale or hint at its size, but I'm assuming I can't carry it out of the water. Cheers for the location. Tom

Look at his feet,that rock is huge..Thumbs up... I would try to break a hunk off the thing...LOL

We could rent one of those chain saw powered concrete cutters. That stone is soft. We could get it all.
I have run a chain saw in water many times to destroy beaver dams and log jams. Talk about spraying water from one end to the other.
