Several years ago I was called in to identify a stone in an estate sale piece of jewelry, a large dark stone with gold floral patterns in a bracelet.
It was chrysanthemum stone that had the feldspar crystals electroplated with gold. Very attractive!

I have tried copper plating. Failed miserably with a pooor source of electrons. I have a new fully adjustable power source and will attempt again someday.

Some of the prettiest stuff I've seen is the black nephrite from Stoddard Wells, CA with gold-plated magnetite inclusions. It is very striking and gemmy. Some say the location is now closed due to a cave-in. Rick

RE: Magnetite/Jade I think I found the spot the last trip. Need to go back. I have been within 50 yards! The images posted by someone else did not indicate a cave-in, but time and scouting will tell.

Someone here, I forget who, was doing something similar a long while back. He offered services that many members took advantage of. His results were great.
