Hi Everyone, Just wondering what the heck this is. It is very hard like Agate or Jasper and about 2 inches in diameter. This came out of a week of 60-90 grit tumble. I am pretty sure it is not some kind of insect and is likely just a rock but wanted some pro's opinions. Thanks tons! Looks kind of like a body with lots of legs. There is more than one in this rock and different sizes Now if you had this in hand I think you would agree that the divot thing near the top is the concave portion of what looks like a clam shell filled with rock, the close up shows it better. The top part of this is a void and it really looks like shell

There's really no way of telling from an image but it looks a bit like Polish flint. I'm sure similar flints occur in other places.

Flint or chert with Liesegang lines. Actually, pseudofossils, often thought to be real fossils....Mel

I have found fossil shells and coral in flint quite a few times. Also impressions of shells in the flint.

With a little imagination it could look like a fossilized Cicada:-) Cool rock though whatever it is
