I think. Not sure what it is but it was fun to make. Hammered out on a hardened steel bolt welded to an anvil. Same thing used to do rings Like 1/16" copper. I turned it dark(glowing in the dark)and quenched it in water w/the oxy/acetylene. Made it real soft. Did not clean it. It was cut and pre tumbled though. Hammered about 20 minutes. Annealed only once and it is way hard now. Copper gets real soft when you anneal it. Great metal to forge/hammer form/finish. Both anvil and hammer are about a 1500 grit finish or better. 8 once hammer w/about a 4-5 inch radius face.

Very nice James,,, I have a whole bunch of things that fit the category of "I don't know what they are"! When I'm working on something that's starting to get to me I stop working on it and pick up some scrap and just "stick" it together. It eases my mind and I can push the patience reset button again! LOL connrock

I like this, James! Can't tell how big it is but it is a great shape for making a pair of earrings. I like the way the edges look, too!

LOL connrock Tinkering is great for the mind. Brainless activity. I try to use the simplest methods and most basic tools. Working with the hands is addictive and does reset things. Keeps you in practice too.

It is 5/8" stock and about 2 and 1/2" long. It could certainly be done on a smaller scale. Thinner, narrower and shorter stock and would be great earrings. it was hammered out on the weird homemade anvil in the lower right. On the steel bolts sticking out. I need to weld a smaller bolt to do earrings. It is made the same way a ring is made but was spiraled as it was hammer formed. And the stock was fed in at an angle to the bolt. Good learning trial.

I mentioned how the red neck shear curls the metal. I thought you said leave it curled.
Then again it could be damaged brain cells.
