Super nice rings. I saw them on another forum I used to be on. Love the patterned ring shank. Gotta love those embossing plates.

Those are beautiful rings. I especially love the elegant look that the gallery wire brings to them. Great work.

Very nice indeed. I have never fabricated anything, so this may be a stupid question, but here goes: When using the gallery wire like that, what happens if the circumference around the stone falls in the middle of the design & not neatly between?

Both of them are gorgeous! However, my favorite is the Prudent Man!

Very nice indeed. I have never fabricated anything, so this may be a stupid question, but here goes: When using the gallery wire like that, what happens if the circumference around the stone falls in the middle of the design & not neatly between? Rich Hi Rich......... That is the $64,000 question. When I'm bending the gallery wire bezel around the cab and coming to the meet where the solder joint will be I check to see if it will be ok. If there will be just right or a small pucker, just a bit too large, I'm ok if not I will make it undersize. When I am mounting the cab I will recut/grind the cab to fit. A lot of times I will under and/or over cut the wire to compensate for the size difference. I fit the bezel to the cab before I solder it to the base. When I'm going for a trial fit after soldering I use 2 6" long pieces of dental floss beneath the cab so I can pull the cab back out of the mounting in case it doesn't. I have learned to use hard solder when soldering bezels or any silver meets so when you solder the remaining joints the hard solder joints will not have the solder sucked out when the others are made. Also I solder with all hard solder on all sterling except for when I'm using silver containing Argentium. Argentium is more heat sensitive when over heated. 39don

ps...
I'm self taught in both Lapidary and Silversmithing but have been trying to learn how, off and on, over 50 years.
And I'm still learning........

Fantastic job on both rings! I've never tried gallery wire and I think I'll leave that for another lifetime! connrock
