Made this ring yesterday along with some other stuff. 18ga Brass with sterling. The texture was done with my foredom hammer handpiece. It is a size 13 right now but can be adjusted a few sizes either way.

I like it,but won't brass turn your finger green? How about having the inner surface something like German Silver or Stainless Steel?

Dave, Yes on some people it will turn your finger just like copper but others it won't. When I wear copper or brass it just depends on my body for that particular day if it affects my skin or not. In the begining I would worry about selling copper or brass but the pepole that buy it know and do not seem to mind. As for lining it with german silver I will not put anything with nickle that will touch skin due to allergic reactions.

That's awesome! Do you solder the silver on before forming the ring? connrock

I was just remembering one of my daughters buying a bunch of silver rings for her friends. She was quite upset when the silver plating wore off in couple of days and her friends fingers turned green. Your brass is plainly visible. No problem!

Ya know I keep coming back to look at this because I am amazed at how good the brass looks. I have stayed away from it so far, but you are tempting me. Is that a special kind or something? It's prettier than I remember brass being.

It's prettier than I remember brass being. No, nothing special; Per Rio's website: Jeweler's Brass is a great color match to 14K yellow gold! CDA #230 alloy (85% copper/15% zinc); also known as red brass, NuGold, Jeweler’s Bronze or Merlin’s Gold. If I am making rings or wrist cuffs I stay with brass from one of the reputable sources so I know the content. For other items that do not have skin contact I will use brass or bronze from a scrap yard. Sometimes the piece of mind paying a little more from Rio or Thunderbird is worth it when you have customers to consider.

Love the color and the texture of your ring.
Is your hammer sort of like a pick with a very small radius on the end/face?

On the other ring with the tube set Peridot I used the Fine Point anvil. Phil
