Not in three lifetimes could I learn enough to do this level of work.

How could you place a price on something like that?
Time, material, knowing what to do next?

It's amazing art. So good, in fact, that this is at least the second thread to feature it! :-)

I can't imagine working through a microscope and one OOPS and it's back to square one again! I've tried engraving a few times and failed badly. This man goes one step further and uses intricate inlaid pieces of metal which blows my mind! A true very gifted artist! connrock

As if all the work involved with cutting/carving/chiseling/engraving/sanding/inlaying/goldleafing the piece weren't enough, he mixes and forges/casts his own metal blanks too? His work is amazing, what talent!
It doesn't matter what a piece like that could be sold for, the amount of work involved could never be recouped. Something like this could only be done by artisans working for the royal families.

I think I heard on the knife forums that he got paid the equivelant of US$150K to make that piece. I think it took six months. Not so bad at all really. rockjunquie - like your silver stuff, some folks just have a knack for beauty, design and execution. That is why I make spheres. The machine does the work! lol
