Fell in love with this flourite specimen. Edges are purple, internally it's yellow with a small patch of clear

Very pretty! How tall is it? Is that your handwriting on the card? It's very pretty!!! Thank you It's about 3.5 inches tall, and yes its my handwriting. Took alot of practice to teach myself how to use a dip pen (calligraphers pen) with several different nibs to get different font types , to work different inks they all have different flows especially when the nibs vary, and to work on the handwritting. Alot of people can't read cursive anymore so need to keep it as simple as possible but still look elegant, and a little extra flair where it doesn't get in the way of being able to read it. . My "m's" and "n's" are not cursive. It's been an interesting challenge to find balance.

Yes, it is sad, but cursive really is dieing. And the art of calligraphy along with it, I suppose. My DH used to do it- when we were dating, he learned it to send me love notes. My grandkids are not being taught it. My granddaughter taught herself, though. Good idea to make it fairly simple for people.

Yeah according to my neighbors daughter who is 13, they never taught her when she was in school. I think I learned cursive in 3rd grade. Not sure why the schools stopped.... Aren't people supposed to sign their names in cursive? I actually had to remake a couple cards I had done because according to the feedback I got from people, they couldn't read it. So now I'm at the font I'm using now.
That's so sweet he used to write you love letters! Even more so that he learned how just for you! <3 Sounds like you've got a keeper lol

Beautiful! I've recently begun exploring wire/gem trees, and this one is a nice contrast. Normally they're balanced in size, but yours seems like a lone tree atop a mountain.
I started teaching myself calligraphy a few years ago, stopped, and am ready to take it up again. I don't have very good handwriting, but I've been writing in cursive more which helps. I was taught to write with my fingers, rather than my arm....so that makes it even more difficult. It's a shame that schools aren't teaching cursive anymore. An online poster asked "how will future generations be able to read historical documents written in cursive", and he was right.

Thanks snowmom and autumn, that was the look I was going for. I've seen quite a few in little bonsai pots, and alot on pieces of twisted wood. Good luck with your trees, I'd love to see one.
Very good point about the historical documents! I think cursive is a good skill set to have, plan on teaching my boys.
Keep practicing you'll get the hang of it, I was taught to write with my fingers too, your riggt... calligraphy your using your whole arm in order to keep the nib slanted at the same angle all the way thru, it's not easy.

It's a shame that schools aren't teaching cursive anymore. An online poster asked "how will future generations be able to read historical documents written in cursive", and he was right. I have thought and heard the same question. Very sad to think about. I have reason to read documents from Colonial America. Some are very difficult to read even for someone who can read cursive. I can see how someone who doesn't read it, may never be able to get the full meaning.

Maybe we should add cursive and basic calligraphy back into schools...along with proper handwriting.

This is an awesome way of displaying such a great imagination and yet another great talent lost from technology.
