Ask specific questions, post pictures, and just explore the site! A lot of people on here learn a lot by lurking, but detailed questions with pictures seem to yield the best result! Welcome and enjoy the forum!

Welcome! All I can say is- make sure you have some expendable rock to start out with. That way you won't be hesitant to make mistakes. Making mistakes is how you learn.

Keep in mind too- there is more than one way to do it. Find what works best for you- just as long as it isn't eating up your wheels.
