Yesterday, going through boxes I found some more Morgan Hill, Guadalupe and this single hunk of Kabamby Jasper. Here are some cuts. Can't decide if I like these colors or not....Mel Set #1: Oriented it the other direction for set #2 First set had no fractures. Unfortunately these do as I really like the green quartz filled vugs in two of these. I'm thinking of cleaning the vugs and using super glue to stabilize the slabs to cab them. Close up of green colored quartz crystals in the vug:

I find those slabs mesmerizing. I love the colours, very earthy. The orbs are beautiful.

I am not a big fan of the color but love the pattern in those slabs. I generically labeled these cabs as "orbicular poppy jasper" on etsy but they look similar to your slabs do you think they are the same stuff? Chuck

Chuck: My inclination would be to say Kabamby for that cab as it tends to have a lot of those green/yellow green tones and is "unfractured". Kabamby tends to be very solid. That being said though, the poppy jasper from the interior coast ranges of northern California north of San Francisco Bay can also have green to yellow as their basic color palette. I've seen material from up in Lake County and the Pope Valley region that is a dead ringer for your specimen. A fellow at the big state show when it was held in Paso Robles even had an unfractured specimen like yours but I think that would be rare for California. I have a slab of the California stuff somewhere. I'll try to take a pic of that and Kabamby next to each other....Mel

I've seen material exactly like the cab, listed as Stoney Creek. Does look much like the Ocean Jasper.

on the cab, just going by the thinness of the lines, I think stoney creek - but Mel has a point about solid. stoney creek can have lots of healed fractures

I agree too. As I've said in the other thread, there are some northern California poppy types that I literally can't tell from Kabamby as long as there's no pink. There may be some out there but I've never seen the pink in any of the green/yellow poppies from northern Cally....Mel

Beautiful slabs, Mel! The slabs with the quartz-filled green and yellow vugs are sweet. Maybe polish the slabs for displaying?

Those are some really interesting colors in those slabs. The green vugs are way cool.
