Hi there, new to this tumbling business. I have been interested in all things rocky for ages. I collect sand from places i have been and rocks/minerals. I'm not very well up on whats what tbh, i may call something a rock when it's actually a mineral or something else, please forgive me in advance. I have many questions as i'm sure you get from many newbie. regards Tiger

Tiger, I hear one can simply walk out their back door, down to the ocean and pick up agate by the bucket full.. and Yes I've seen this, so I'm hoping you have had this same luck as that other person I met over there several years ago.

thanks for such a warm welcome. Stone whisper, possibly, looking in to it but i believe it's east coast Scotland that has the best, i however live on the west lol. but will be making a trip out very soon i hope, just have a gearbox to change first, haha. I did pick up a very small rock the has very small coloured bands in it, but really i am so new to this i don't even know what stones i have.

Tiger, I've never been to Scotland but it's my understanding that the St. Columba Bay beach on Isle of Iona is a great spot to rockhound. It's supposed to have a wide assortment of stones including a green/white marble called Iona Greenstone. Not sure how far distance from you, but may be worth checking out if close.

Tiger, I can't recall the bay but your prob right.. on the east coast Scotland comments.. I just recall she walked our her back door and several meters down to the coastline.. and it really wasn't a beach like we know with sand and such.. but it was a sea (sort of speak) of stones and many are banned or of a agate variety. It was amazing to see.. It's like once you get started.. One couldn't put any of them down.
