One of the investments I have made for the shop is in hammer and stake sets. Turned out a couple of brass cuffs for my wife's last birthday. Both were crafted from purchased blanks (shown in one photo). Really enjoyed the process, hope to expand upon it over time.

Really nice, where did you get the blanks? www.riogrande.com/Search/fretz-blankThe same manufacturer of the stake and hammer sets I bought also sells blanks. Based on the search linked above, they are offering quite a bit more variety these days.

Hammer work is fun. Addictive too. Fine work.

Nice work! I made a few copper bracelets but not as wide as yours. Not having the right tools for the job I rounded the ends of 1"-1/2" wood dowels and hammered away! LOL ANY port in a storm! connrock

I cut my own blanks from 2" dia 20ga brass tube from the local metal yard. much cheaper than buying the fretz blanks.

I cut my own blanks from 2" dia 20ga brass tube from the local metal yard. much cheaper than buying the fretz blanks. That is my future intention, haven't had a chance to source material yet. I live near Portland, Or so I imagine I should be able to find some locally. Cheers

Might try The Steel Yard in Portland, not sure if they carry brass tube though.
