Holly molly I am so proud of this ring I am going to have to go buy a new hat. It would not have been possible without the assistance of Tommy (supplied the feather ridge nephrite) and Scott (furnished the Turkish purple jade). Thank you both. I have a new lady and we are already engaged to be friends (gave a ring a while back) but her big 50 is coming up the end of this week so I made her a special ring. I showed her the slabs to see what she thought of the color match and she loved it. Glued it up yesterday and made the ring tonight. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. The slabs glued together. Drilling. The blank. I did not drill the center all the way through then ground the center out with the rotary. Taadaa Drum roll please. I can be such an ass. Thank you for putting up with me and my antics because I am having fun here. Jim

That's a winner for sure!
Jim, what do you do with all those little cores? I keep mine. They could make good matching earrings.....

@wampidy what kind of glue do you use? I'd like to try that.

@wampidy what kind of glue do you use? I'd like to try that. The first attempt I used Hxtal with bad results. It takes so long to set up that some of it ran out and left voids. Flatter slabs may work better but I did not want to take the chance with the Hxtal again. The only dries clear epoxy at Ace hardware is Devcon Home 5 minute epoxy so I gave it a shot. It seems to hold real good and I had no voids this time because of the thicker glue I have the means now to flatten the slabs better. Not perfect (100 diamond flat lap I bought has higher diamond at the edge and center) so I need to find a flat lap with no hole and diamond all the way across. Jim

I don't think you could go wrong epoxy 330, I have glued slabs together for doublets and triplets and its always worked well. Drys clear and seems to stay that way too. Tom's humble opinion:)

Thanks all.
Sorry about the multiple post. RTH was not working so I ended up trying many times not knowing that each one was going out. lol
Tom, I knew there was a better choice out there but I needed something right away. I had plans a while back to get the 330 but never got around to it. Thanks for the reminder. Jim

You're welcome Jim! - sorry I'm late to the party I just found this post. That's a real nice ring! It's Feather River not that it matters much. If I wasn't already spread way too thin in this hobby I think I could find a new obsession in core cutting.

Thanks for the heads up on the name Tommy. I still have two pieces left that will make 2 or 3 more rings depending on how many layers I use it on.
I did make one huge error on this ring. The word being huge. My friend tried it on and it looked like she had a boulder stuck on her hand. I am going to grind it down way thinner and if that isn't enough I have three choices. 1. I can take some off of both ends. 2. I can take one end off. 3. I can cut it in half so she has two in case one breaks. It is pretty tough rock so I do not see it breaking unless I get it way too thin. Jim
