RTH Family,
It's been awhile since I've stopped in to this site... in the shuffle of life, things get set aside and then found again. I think my first time on this site was probably sometime around 2004, as I was just getting into rock tumbling... Oh, the changes since then. 6 Multi-state moves, multiple jobs, and life experiences have brought me to my current location of Tallahassee, Florida. And with it, a chance to get back into the hobby that I never gave up on. Attempted to turn it into a business multiple times with limited success due to a demanding IT career, I'm now attempting once again. And back here I come... : )
I see that the site has grown dramatically since I last came on and I'm very happy to see that! Welcome to all of you that have come to this wonderful board. If you have any interest in rocks at all, this is the place to be. From the humble beginnings of two Lortone tumblers, to now expanding out into metalsmithing, this place is great for all information and help. And I'm glad to be back.

Hi, Malkavic, and welcome back! Very glad you have settled down and are getting started in metalsmithing. Looking forward to seeing some of your creations on the forum. How do you like living in Tallahassee? My dad lives there, and I grew up in Cairo, Georgia, which is about a hop and a skip north of Tallahassee.

Hey there gingerkid.
So far been in Tally for about a year, and liking it. I've lived in multiple parts of the US, however this place has all of the southern charm of MS, AL and GA with just enough of the Florida northern aspects to balance it out. Been reading the Metalsmithing Forums, to get ideas. Now to make a list of all of the items I need to get, and maybe I can start setting some of the stones I started cutting in 2004.

Malkavic, I purchased an art clay silver kit, but haven't used it yet since I would have to use the torch outside and it's too hot and humid now. I also purchased some books on soldering using the butane micro-torch. Although using a butane torch has it limits, it may be something that might interest you. Glad you are enjoying Tally Town! Lots to do and enjoy there. They used to hold arts & crafts shows at the fairgrounds many moons ago and at the malls, so there should be opportunities for you to showcase your creations in Tallahassee without having to travel.
