Hello everyone! I found this group in a Google search for how to cut and shape stone. There seems to be many educated people here. I can't wait to talk to you all. I am a mama to a (sometimes) awesome 15 year old (he's 15, that's why I say he's sometimes awesome, he's more often annoying these days). ? I am a crystal, energy, natural medicine healer for many years now. I've loved all the beautiful stones since I was a kiddo, collecting everything I could find. At this point, you can't go a foot in my home without going by some kind of beautiful stones and crystals. I started tumbling pretty agate and jade that I'd find everywhere when I was young. I've spent the last 5 years or so really loving the look of natural rock and clusters. My tumbler disappeared in a move some years back... It was a little ancient anyways and didn't quite work right. So, now I am wanting to get into cutting stone, shaping stone and taking an already beautiful piece and making some beautiful jewelry with it. I want to make ear gauges, spirals, and necklace pieces. I'm allergic to a lot of crumby plated metals and most wood gauges, so I basically only do stone ear gauges. I'd love to make my own. I'm pretty good with shaping large material into something beautiful, intricate and useful. I'm sire this will all be hard work, but its something I'd really love to learn, if only for my own personal use. One day I'd love to be able to sell my creations, but I'm sure I've got a lot of practice to do first. I can't wait to talk with you all and soak up some knowledge. Many blessings to you all. ? ?

Welcome from Colorado Corinne.
Lots of folks here that can help you out. Sounds like you might want to go look at the carving section (I don't sculpt or carve myself so I can't say too much about that)

Welcome and jump int to the discussion. So, tell us where you are from so we can imagine what kinds of magic you can find out your back door or at the local shop. Who knows you might find a rock coming your way with good karma. Tom
