Again I looked all over town looking for something (grey card this time) and struck out again. I bought a very large pack of construction paper because it showed grey as one of the colors. It didn't exactly say grey, just looked like it. None, nada, nunca so I tried brown as the mostest neutralest color. Whadaya think? Jim

I am thinking about just gluing a thin layer of sand then the loose sand can be added over the top. Probably be a good thing to wait until someone specified that they only want it for display. Jim

I'd not bother with gluing sand, messy and hard to care for.(this from the retired cleaning lady in me) they are wonderfully crafted pieces and they look great!

I did not think about that aspect of it but I definitely see your point about tough to clean. You also gave me a reason to rethink the plan to bag just enough sand to fill it once if I sell one. The sand is going to get dirty and the easiest way to clean it is replace it and not very many people would want to go out and buy a big bag of sand because they need half a cup full. A $10.00 bag of aquarium sand will probably fill twenty of these things. I knew you were following this so I was wondering what your reply would be. Thanks for the tip. Jim

love the finesse carpentry skills. Can I hire you to make a my coffin Jim ? You make beautiful sand boxes. the table top zen is excellent and out of the box idea. Need to get you a specimen coral so you can make a setting for the coral reefer band Jimmy Buffet style. How about a rock of black carved into a shark fin with a wake trail in the sand. You want me to go away-right.

Make it like the doctor game where if you touch it it will buzz or jump up and scare the crap out of you. Now that would be relaxing huh? And thanks to all for the great comments. I am working on something else that is so cool is is going to make you wet yourself. Okay, maybe not that cool, but pretty cool. Hopefully finish one tomorrow. Jim
