Made this for my grandfather for a Christmas gift and thought I would share the unfinished product. I would like to try and get a better polish but without having the necessary lap tools Im going to put alot of elbow grease into getting it where I feel it's complete. The rock I had wasn't large enough to cut a full circle so that's why it's all caddywampis.

If you're making something for someone who you love and care about,it doesn't have to be perfect as long as it came from your heart! Your bolo looks great and I KNOW your grandfather will love it and cherish it forever! connrock

Thank you for the kind words. I tend to be my biggest critic when it comes to gifting my work whether it's wood, stone, drawing or any other creation that I can spit out.

Beautiful sentiment, beautiful idea. But putting an undersized and uneven stone into a plated base-metal finding is not 'in itself' beautiful work. You may achieve some rustic charm. But then maybe you will give him another next year that is miles beyond this one. Another possibility might be to drill that stone for a key fob.

Thank you, this gift was finished on a very short time frame. I'm definitely going to make something else in the near future with better planning and finished in the amount of time I need to take to make sure I know I did my best. I'm sure he will love it no matter what it looks like whether he decides to wear it or not.
