I do mind my own business 1dave. When attacked it is a surprise and I know i probably do not deserve it. If you were in that situation you would come out swinging too.

Probably harder than you would. I think I would have pressed trespassing charges - especially if I knew her history in the neighborhood!

I do mind my own business 1dave. When attacked it is a surprise and I know i probably do not deserve it. If you were in that situation you would come out swinging too. Absolutely! Probably harder than you would. I think I would have pressed trespassing charges - especially if I knew her history in the neighborhood! Well, I threaded the needle of a new law at the time of building about the building supposing to be a barn with no beds. She is new to the hood. They started charging impact fees for permited cabins. It probably would have been $10,000+. I only stay there 2 months out of the year and it is not a cabin. So if she wanted to push the issue she may could have made trouble for me. The county has probably got no record of anything other than an electrical and well permit which was before the 'no beds' law. Building built a bit after law, hmmm. Better keep my mouth shut. I think she knew she was in a bad position, she filed a written complaint. Evidence overwhelming. it's OK to pay land taxes, but being taxed on improvements is stretching things if it has a well and it's own septic tank. And it's OK to tax out of state land owners at a higher rate, but they don't. Interesting concept- the roads in the subdivision are untitled. They belong to a corporation that consists of a bucket and a shovel. Back in the day the developers were allowed to put pig trails in to the houses that met county geometric configurations. No specifications, just the layout had to be approved by the county. It was left up to the residents to maintain the road. It can be a mess at times. The developers simply incorporated the roads to a dummy corporation to relieve liability. There is a lot of that in Florida, it stems from old Spanish laws. My access is thru the neighborhood. I use the road but have no responsibility to maintain it. I pay maintenance fees because I volunteered. I have done a good many Florida real estate deals and understand their laws pretty good. I was sued by some guys that squated long enough to build permanent residences on a piece of land I bought. No one wanted to tangle w/those guys but profits were starring me in the face. I offered free in/egress to them and they still sued me. All three of them. Well, I thought I was being more than generous. And they really made me mad. I hired a lawyer that was even more angry. He countersued them and oh boy did they get scorched. I still gave them in/egress and paid them well for their squatted property and paid the legal fees. Because I had a windfall to make and did. Money before ego deal. I ate crow, but lived off the proceeds for almost 10 years. Proceeds from selling lots after the land was subdivided into lake front lots.

Dredging up an old thread, started on 2/2/15. Why? Because it is Groundhogs Day, and Bob's first thread. And it's our anniversary. (2020 - 1984 = 36 years.) And, I've taken the time to painstakingly upload the photos that PB screwed over to Flickr PRO (I'm already paying $50 a year, may as well make use of them), and edit the old RTH threads with clear, unbranded photos. Lots of new people here that weren't here five years ago. For your convenience, here's a link to the beginning of the thread. 31st anniversary (oops!)Enjoy!

It'll be great to see those missing images. You are a better woman than I. Some of my pics are missing or messed up.

Thanks for doing all that picture restoration work. Thanks, Robin on the anniversary congrats, and you're welcome for the photo restoration. I restored pics to a thread entitled "Lepidolite Field Trip" but now can't find it. I didn't think the OP to a post could delete the first post and all following? But I'm wondering if that isn't exactly what I did somehow..
Plenty more to fix! My luck, Flickr will crash and burn within the next few years. They've been getting people to sign up for PRO, which means more money coming in, but not a week later, they say it's not making a dent in their deficit. They are in the red!
I'd upload to cloudinary, but there are just so many pics, I don't want go over my allotted space and bandwidth.

Thanks, Tela. Mostly, it just takes time. (And the patience of somebody here that wonders what I am doing online for hours at a time, lol.) I'm just starting with ones that people seemed to like the first time around, with lots of pics. Just slowly wading in.
Also, thanks knave and Rockoonz . Hopefully, there will be another on next Groundhog's Day.

You only go over as images are viewed, not stored. That's how I understand it. So, older threads shouldn't be too big a problem unless they all pop up to the frontpage at once.
