That is an awesome find! I would have to cut at least a couple of slabs, then face polish the remaining piece for a display specimen

That is a great find Roland. I like how you can see the head of the bone so clearly. Did you get it in WY?

That is a great find Roland. I like how you can see the head of the bone so clearly. Did you get it in WY? Yes I did! Just yesterday on an all day hounding trip. I also picked up some pet wood that is very similar to the kind that I got from you. Good looking stuff! It was a very productive day and I will be spending lots of time with the saw here in the next few weeks. The variety of rocks that I picked up is amazing and this bone find just puts the icing on the cake. Lots of pics will be shared... ~Roland

Outstanding find! I sure hope you post pictures if you polish that up. I agree with radio, a couple slices off the top for a slab and a cab or two and then polish the cut top for a display piece.

Well captbob and radio, I'm afraid that I can't bear to try to cut this specimen any. And at this point I'm even worried about trying to polish it. It's not too large and since it still has a very distinct bone shape I want to leave it as-is. Besides, it has some sentimental value as a 'first'. You know your first is always a big deal! I do appreciate your comments and believe me I would like to know what a clean cut and polished surface looks like. Let's just see what my future fossil finding adventures yield and then perhaps I will change my mind. snowmom, if my dance would have gotten any crazier, I would have rolled right off of that mountainside! Thanks! ~Roland

Purple dino bone? I am envious. Very nice find. I'm glad to hear you are leaving it as is. It's a beautiful specimen.
