Link Wray - Fire and Brimstone 1971 I had a dream last night While I was layin' on my bed And the whole world was standing still And the moon was turning red I saw a sign in the sky "I have come to set you free" There's a light shinin' bright Shinin' down, down on me I saw fire, fire and brimstone Comin' down on my head... Link Wray - Rumble LOL! “Rumble” was the first banned instrumental. Great stuff. Link is most def underrated

Not sure what freaked my parents out more- my large punk/hardcore record (remember those?) collection or when I got into swing/big band music when I was 16 years old. None of my friends got it either which somehow drew me to it even more. Came in handy later in life when dating my now wife. Her Grandma Helen was a bit skeptical of me and my look. They were a very clean cut and straight-laced family and here comes this guy with hair down to his axx and frankly looked like a wild man. One day when I was waiting for my girlfriend to go on a date I was grilled by Grandma. Somehow the conversation turned to music and once she realized I could speak extensively about the music she grew up with I was in, as once I had Helen's seal of approval everyone else fell in line. Still love the music to this day.

Well, uh, outside in the cold distance A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching And the wind began to howl, hey

Been hearing a lot about the “Sparks Brothers” movie, and how the Sparks are supposedly one of those “your favorite band’s favorite band” phenomena. I was surprised to hear how many albums they’ve put out (27 since 1972!), since this song is the only one I really remember getting any airplay:
Nice self-deprecating humor. LOL

Somehow the conversation turned to music and once she realized I could speak extensively about the music she grew up with I was in, as once I had Helen's seal of approval everyone else fell in line. Still love the music to this day. People never know what to make of my eclectic tastes. I often hear people say they “like everything except _____” (rap, country, jazz most often fill in the blank). I’ve yet to hate an entire genre. Some genres definitely have fewer things I like, but there’s generally something. So it’s often funny to see the reaction from people that think they have me pigeon-holed. It can also be a little sad when it comes from someone I would think that they had put a little effort into knowing me.
