Love that song, Rick! Thanks! How about an oldy? Tom Jones - What's new pussycat Nashville Cats - Lovin' Spoonful Enough of the damn cats! You know they only see you as a meal ticket, they honestly don't give a shit about you, lol... Here's something interesting I came across the other day. Get your crabbing gear on. Edit to add - Whoops, sorry RickB, didn't see you had posted the Nashville Cats song 6 hours before I did. I miss things sometimes...

Since we’re doing non-flattering Father’s Day songs might as well add:
Great song, though

Not sure what freaked my parents out more- my large punk/hardcore record (remember those?) collection or when I got into swing/big band music when I was 16 years old. None of my friends got it either which somehow drew me to it even more. Came in handy later in life when dating my now wife. Her Grandma Helen was a bit skeptical of me and my look. They were a very clean cut and straight-laced family and here comes this guy with hair down to his axx and frankly looked like a wild man. One day when I was waiting for my girlfriend to go on a date I was grilled by Grandma. Somehow the conversation turned to music and once she realized I could speak extensively about the music she grew up with I was in, as once I had Helen's seal of approval everyone else fell in line. Still love the music to this day. People never know what to make of my eclectic tastes. I often hear people say they “like everything except _____” (rap, country, jazz most often fill in the blank). I’ve yet to hate an entire genre. Some genres definitely have fewer things I like, but there’s generally something. So it’s often funny to see the reaction from people that think they have me pigeon-holed. It can also be a little sad when it comes from someone I would think that they had put a little effort into knowing me. Amen to that. Reminds me of: Too much good music across the spectrum to limit oneself.

I believe there are certain songs that get covered, and the person singing the song can't hold a candle to the original version. They can't seem to evoke the same type of emotional response the original artist was able to pull from my soul. Garth Brooks version of The Dance was one of those songs. I don't know how many people I've heard do a cover of that song that just seemed to fall short of being the emotional tsunami this song is capable of being...until last night. I heard Kelly Clarkson's version of the song - and boy did she deliver...in fact, almost more emotionally charged than Garth's original...almost.
