txrockhunter, you have no idea what this does to a rockless newbie like me!!!!!! That is.....incredible!!! Folks, if you right-click on the gravel bed image and click on "view image" in the menu that comes up that will carry you to a photobucket page. Once there, there is a magnifier glass...click on that. Let the image load. Once again right-click on the image and then click view image. Your mouse pointer will turn into a small magnifier glass...click it and start slobbering over the closeups of the rocks. Did I say...INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!

Awesome finds - there is just a little extra satisfaction when they are self sourced - very nice job on collecting & tumbling!!

WOWWWZERS!, this may be the best selection of variety from a single area I have ever seen. The colors and kinds of variety are exceptional. When you decide to start selling your finds to the "poor rockless", please consider this forum as a starting place! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your finds with all of us.

Like how Scrooge McDuck swims through his mountains of gold coins, I imagine swimming through that gravel bed and cackling with glee.

Wow!!!!! I did not expect that kind of response, to that post!!! I feel very blessed to have this resource, so close to home..... I had never thought about selling any of my finds, but recouping some of my expenses, to help fulfill the needs of fellow Rockhounds, would be ok! I have no idea what to sell this for? ? would $10 for a large FRB, be fair? I would be willing to swap material from your area. I want to make sure that everyone understands, these are not all A grade material and will be strait out of the gravel. I will send the best I have, taking out most of the obvious losers. I have attached some pictures of recent hunts, to give you an idea of the material (they were taken at 4:30, this morning on my way out the door). I will take closeups if needed. Much of this will be best viewed, cut. I have separated the Red Jasper (really bad photos) and Pet Wood. If you let me know what sizes and types, you are looking for, I will do my best to accommodate. If I do sell them, I will need help with the best way to set that up. Thanks, Jeremy

Yeah, 10 bucks isn't worth your time. And, like amygdule said, go with medium boxes. A large FRB wouldn't survive the trip even with a ton of packing tape wrapped around it.

Whatever you decide on (within reason, of course ) I'd like a box. What about providing it by the pound? Maybe $1.50-$2.00 per pound for ever how much will fit in a medium FRB...plus the postage, of course. I figure at least 10# will probably fit? Eleven pounds will fit in a padded FR envelope and survive a trip from Washington state to Alabama, so that might be an option. Remember, you are not selling rocks, but rather providing a much needed and patriotic service for us poor, wretched, rockless souls by making available the great resources of this great and noble nation!!! Ooohoh, say can you see.......

would $10 for a large FRB, be fair? Way too cheap. You would be better off shipping rocks in a medium FRB. I wouldn't trust the Post Office to handle a large FRB full of rock. FYI, I believe it is unlawful to sell rocks that are collected from Public Lands. We're just paying for his gas money to haul this out and get it to the post office ... and we're supporting the US Postal Service as they haul pounds and pounds of ... rocks ... LOL Just joking ... sort of...

Oh, and let us know how much you want per box. As the other's mentioned a MFRB is probably best. I'd be glad to send you some materials as well.

would $10 for a large FRB, be fair? FYI, I believe it is unlawful to sell rocks that are collected from Public Lands. Sooooo..... How about, the rocks are "Free", but I will charge a $1.50 / lb + the freight, for "Labor", to haul the rocks a mile, uphill, through sand and water? I'm not looking to open a new business, just spread the treasures from my area to those, who would most appreciate them. I appreciate the advice, as I have no experience in the rock sales, arena.

txrockhunter, that sounds very fair. Maybe not even consider the $1.50 as being for labor but for "expenses"....gas, vehicle wear-and-tear, boot wear-and-tear, bucket expenses, etc.,. So, where do I send my money?

$1.50 a pound PLUS postage is a steal or an extremely generous offer for rocks like those pictured on page one here. The rocks don't just jump in your bucket. Gotta take quite a bit of time (and effort) to gather up 20 pounds of "keepers". Your call...
You can probably easily fit 20 lbs in a MFRB. I wouldn't even consider using a padded envelope for 10 pounds of rocks! At least not with the postal service I've come to know and love put up with.

captbob, I just got that package in from Washington state that supposedly is 11#...I haven't weighed it yet. I peeked in yesterday and it is double-bagged...one FR padded envelope inside of another one. It actually surprised me that it was in as good a shape as it was when it got here. The only sealing was the supplied adhesive on the flap. I would imagine, though, that the wrong sharp edge could really make a postal carrier into a disgruntled postal worker. ...and an expectant rock hound into a very sad rockhead. But, a box could bust as easily, I would imagine.

Excuse the ignorance, but is it protocol to post a paypal link in this thread, or to send it in a PM?
