Hi guys, My newest creation, Rutilated Quartz cab and Rutilated Quartz 6mm faceted (Rio) in a tube setting. I think its a love it or hate it kind of piece. My wife likes it, my daughter does not. Its about 2.5 inches long and was a PITA to make the bezel, I need practice with inside curves:) Thanks for looking

I like the design, do you just use the hammer on the tube set? I am kind trying to imagine using one on the bezel wire. When do you get the quick tach hand piece?

I use the stone setter first, normally that does the job fine. But this time the stone ended up not quite even and I figured I would try the Foredom hammer and it fixed it up half decent:) As for the bezel I set it using a pusher and finished it with the hammer piece. I hold the jewellery in one hand and the tool in the other. Its quite easy to control how hard the tool hits and with the stone in one hand it kind of acts as a cushion. I am just experimenting so far but I like it so far too. Last step is burnishing.

Is the small faceted stone a true tube set or is it set in a bezel cup? Just trying to improve my skills. thanks

Its a true tube set, I cut the tube then used a 6mm round burr to start the enlargement, then I used a 6mm stone setting burr to finish the hole. You want to only go deep enough so that the stones table is just a wee bit above the top of the tube. Make sure when you set the stone the silver will kind of "wrap" around the widest part of the gem. Drill little look lots LOL. Don't worry I am just learning to do this myself.

Very nice work, and you can put me on the "Really Like It" side of the road.

Hi Pat,
No this one is not the diamond pave, it's just the real pointy one from the Rio set. The texture is more subtle than the diamond pave but it really has its own charms. Oh I should mention that after I textured it the silver went through 12 hours of tumbling in stainless shot and pastic pellets. That softens the texture, you can texture after that as well. It's really a matter of experimentation
