That seems like a good deal alright! Camera is "refurbished", but I doubt that matters.
Chuck, have you ever had just a regular H series? Wonder if that Carl Zeiss lens is worth the more than doubling in price. $150 for the H300 vs $375 for the HX300
GOTTA get a new (better) camera, Christmas sales may be the best time. Shopping around would require more reading than I have time for right now.

I am pretty sure I'll end up popping for the HX400 that just came out. Awesome camera and on sale from $499 down to $350 www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1029524-REG/sony_dsc_hx400_b_dsc_hx400_digital_camera.htmlcheck all the cool new features right on Sony's page www.sony.com/electronics/cyber-shot-compact-cameras/dsc-hx400-hx400vChuck

So how much ya gonna be asking for your old HX300 ? Would love to help ya out there but that camera was used and abused. My daughter took it to Paris and Spain last year for her high school senior trip and it looked about ten years older when she handed it back to me. Carl zeiss makes good lenses but now I know they are not scratch proof I have a collection of all my digital cameras. Its kind of funny to look at them now. I bought the very first digital camera to break the one mega pixel mark back in 1996 and got a great deal on it ..... $900. I'll dig it out and show a picture of it later. Chuck

I highly recommend you get a used Canon D60 DSLR, lol I might be sticking that one right back where I found it on EBAY if I don't find time to learn how to use it soon or take a class. Not enough time in the day captbobChuck

I appreciate the truthfulness regarding your camera Chuck. I will keep looking as I find the time.
I've got an years old PHD (Press Here Dummy) camera. 8 mega pixels with 5x zoom! So most anything will be a vast improvement. Just want to be able to take quality rock close ups along with the normal life photos, so it doesn't have the newest / greatest.

In love with my old Nikon D70 DSLR.24-85mm Nikkor AF lens w/macro setting. Old but takes fine photos, great lens.
Easy to use manual mode.
For rocks and scenery(slow shooting) the H should do fine. I dial it down on file size so photos load quick.
