i though i would give you all a review of the lortone 14" slab saw i my self have herd all kinds of complaint on this model saying it cut to fast gets jammed when cutting hard jaspers and agate ect and so on ! so needing to add a saw to my work shop to keep up with my slab auctions on Sundays i decided to buy a 14" and see for my self how they work so i drove up to richardsons and picked one up the cost is 1650.00 brand new got it home and have worked the piss out of the thing and it have preformed flawlessly ! i have cut every thing on it and it cuts great and fast !the only thing i dont like about it is having to take it off of the bottom pan to clean it and soon i will figure out how to modifie it so that i can clean it in place i will pass that along ! so if you looking to ad a saw or looking for your first one or on the fence about this one now you know my opinion

I have already done this on my 14 Lortone saw and posted it here on Home made equipment page 2 LORTONE MODIFICATION it works wonderful. and Its never down I just drop 1 1/2 gal of oil and fill it up with recycled oil that processed an waiting and just keep cutting check it out.

They were using 2 of them this year at the Rockhound retreat and they swear by them (not at them). I have a 12" lortone now and as soon as I do the vice mods it needs I will use it a lot more. The cut quality is super, not a lot of blade marks to spend extra time grinding off. Rockpowells mod looks pretty good. so far I have just used the scrape the sludge and add oil method but eventually I'll add a drain.
