This is the biggest "nugget" I've ever found. I believe it's electrum which is a natural gold-silver alloy. Many of our local gold/silver/copper mines produce fine electrum specimens, including some amazing wire and crystalline examples. The Liberty Gold Mine is one of them. This monster weighs in at 276 grams. That's over a half pound. SG is 18 which points to the silver component. I have many tiny crystalline specimens that I've collected over the years, but this one takes the prize for size!

That's quite s handful! I've never given much thought to electrum, but had the impression it was man made.

I've never heard of electrum. That thing is huge. Did you find it in a stream? Is it worth a fortune?

I guess the same goes for me,never heard of it till just now......Will have to "Google" it and read up on electrum...

Did you by chance ever to find out if that was for sure electrum? If so I would like to know because I have a lot of that....

To all who say they have never heard of it it is a very real thing it is among the first medals that were used to create money and it's actually in a lot of places here in Washington
