It's been a while since I've done much aside from expanding my collection. I was branching out to start making jewelry but my conscience was getting the best of me. Being allergic to nickle I can't wear any of the jewelry I was creating, even nickle free wire makes me break out in hives :/ so I've pretty much stuck to my wire tree sculptures. I decided I had to come up with a new way to incorporate my love for lapidary arts into my products since my wire trees are on natural stones. Here's the results of months and months of learning, practicing and failing. Feedback welcome Leather notebook cover with pen/pencil holder, custom handmade gembone snap closures I had to teach myself how to solder a bezel cup out of 16 gauge sheet brass because there is no bezel cup on the market that can hold up to the strain of the snap closures Not perfect but not bad for my first go at it. Tough with such thick metal. Didn't get to take nice pics of the second journal cover yet with all the snow we've been having I also made a check book cover but no lapidary work on it Currently making myself a wallet which just needs the gembone part of the snap completed and then I'll make a matching bag to go with it All the pockets have a fabric lining I have a few sketches of marine fossil specimens done and am hoping to use fossil coral on the snap closures for those Thanks for taking a look, I'm so glad to be back in the game

Thanks! Still working out kinks in the brass work, I really have to whack at it to set the rivets and it opened up the seam where I soldered the "bezel wire" to itself on one of them, you can see it in the first picture. Looking into using Chicago screws instead of rivets so there's no hammer involved, or i just need to stick with a taller setting because i had no problem with those ones.

Thanks! I'm excited to make more, just got verification of copyright info from the museum of natural sciences in Belgium on one of their iguanodon sketches. Tracking down copyright information has been the hardest part of this project I think lol Thank god for wiki commons

Thanks hours and hours spent on youtube and several hundred dollars worth of materials teaching myself and finding products i like best. Definitely very rewarding when it all comes together. My grandfather has made out best in all of this, he's gotten all my prototypes so far lol

Love the velociraptor one! Would switch out my wife's wallet and replace with such. Would prolly get scolded for a minute but it would be worth it. Ha ha

Thank you everybody! Glad to see that people besides myself like my items. Hopefully I'll be able to start making back my investment soon. Still working on getting pattern designs made up for various items. Need to finish my messanger bag style purse which i should be able to scale up for a men's messanger bag, a mens bi-fold wallet and possibly a simple card wallet in addition to the journal cover, checkbook cover and ladies wallet should be a diverse enough stock to be able to market to different price ranges and needs.

PM me. I'm interested in a men's bifold wallet. And maybe even messenger bag for concealed carry.

I think your product is easily transformative enough to avoid copyright issues.
A copyright attorney won't coat much for a single consult to be sure I am right.

That's what im figuring but if I can find who owns copyright claims it doesn't hurt to contact them. I've gotten approval from 1 museum and 2 photographers. The rest I've found on wiki commons and the bag I'm making myself I'm going with transformative because i couldn't find a public domain image of the replica.

And the bag you are makng for yourself, is not for profit and therefore 100% legit. Keep me in mind for a bifold wallet.
