If it is half your silver work I'll put my drool bib on. Not sure if he was replicating, but those are classic Morrow Mountain points. A 5 sider that I find over here in Georgia from the mountains to the coast. In quartz, black flint and all kinds of chert. Probably an eastern style. Morrow Mountains, north Georgia, upper left And one toward the center left from north Florida

I've done a few primitive points for customers and they look great unless too large. One of the coolest was a modern Obsidian point that I ground a flat back on and bezel set it in Sterling. Now that was primo and the customer won't even take it off to shower!

Stan has them for sale. Great target for the silver men. shoot me some info via PM if you would Sir Those in the pics are too large for my purposes as pendants as about 1 1/2 inches is a good size for those. I've done some around 2 inches, but by the time you add a bail, they get pretty massive

Have always been impressed with what knappers charge for their work.

Not to step on this incredible knappers toes but if made in America is not too important to you, the flint knappers out of India make beautiful points in all sizes for ridiculously low prices. Also, if you find a place where you can see them in person, they use a lot of bloodstone and fancy jasper and the points are often works of art. I was at our local western store in Fredericksburg the other day and almost bought a couple of really beautiful six inch spear points for about $10 each until I remembered I no longer have any way to display them. The smaller points were only like $3 each and were very nicely done too. Eloxite corp may have something very similar in their catalog and one can always make them even fancier with a minimal amount of extra pressure flaking.....Mel

His flaking is awesome! I especially like the little mini flake details between larger flakes at the edge.
Do you know if he does FOG (flake over grinding)? The basic shape is made by grinding & then often only a single layer of flakes is taken off the surface, usually with a flaking jig. Lynn

As a serious collector of modern lithic art the points from India are not even in the same ballpark as Stan's work. That skill level is not easy to achieve. I'd post a few of my frames but I'm currently too lazy to transfer them to Photobucket.

I was not declaring the India-Indian Points are as nice as Stan's which are awesome. The one's I was looking at the other day though, were nicely flaked overall, sharp and had surprisingly nice colors and patterns ( very colorful jasper indeed) which would make them a very nice and inexpensive choice for non serious collectors or uses like bola ties or other jewelry applications. I knapp just a little myself ( really a beginner) and think the points I saw at the shop were darn pretty for the price. Not the flat sided junk you see sometimes, these were fully double convex and very well made. Much better than I turn out, that's fer dang sure. I'll have to pick up a couple next time I go to town and take a pic or two..Mel
