looks like it to me too, but the edge toward your palm is also extremely narrow and thin, preform not finished for some reason? neat piece!

My first reaction is that it's a weathered slab "heel" some rockhound decided was leaverite. The flat side seems too uniform to have been made by knapping. But I'm no artifact expert.

The first thing I thought of when you see it is a type of skinning tool....the sharp edge is not there anymore and the type I seen in a museum was larger, but the same shape. The notched area could be something added? Considering certain tools were used for multiple uses. Just my thought as soon as I seen it. Cool either way!

Without pretending to know anything or rain on anyone's find I'd be a bit cautious about ruling it man made. The first artifact ever was a rock or stick that: 1. Sort of fit the hand or, 2. Had some sort of sharp edge or other useful characteristic or, 3. Was easy to modify to reach some other anticipated form or function. and 4 Was that way naturally due to the randomness of nature.
I suspect in order to be a proven artifact you would have to find it: 1. in association with a human site; 2. produced is similar form in multiple numbers; or 3. see someone making it. It may be, but we need more info to be too certain. Tom

Have it checked out, but I have a feeling it will be categorized as a geofact. Not looking at it in person, but just viewing the video, I can't see where it has been worked. When I first looked at it, it kind of looked like the shape of a sea horse. Rick B

That piece looks like it could have been used as a shaft scraper and fleshing tool also. I have found several tools just about like that one that were dropped on Indian camps, they show very little flaking work but would function very well as is ! Lots of tools were not made for the artistic value but a tool needed right now, lets get er done type thing !
