high desert wood and stone what lights it up ? candle- bulb? cool design Thanks, Ed with the name that keeps getting longer. The wood base is drilled to hold one of those little tea candles. In the picture it is actually illuminated by a little battery powered fake tea candle, found them at Sleaze Mart. If a person wanted a bunch of them I suspect shopping around online would come up with a better price, I just haven't taken the time yet. Russ

How does agate cope with the hot temps of molten tin/lead? Adrian Not a problem, the heat doesn't affect the rock at all. It really isn't that hot, the melting point of that alloy is only 188C/370F. The duration of the heat is really short as well. Russ

Thank you all. Adrian, that is solder in there-60/40 lead/tin to be exact. Russ Did you copper foil it? Yes I did. Copper foil method. Really not that hard, and it's really kind of fun. I've soldered a few miles of copper for water and air lines, this is kind of the same but a little different. Russ

Russ Nice job. Similar method, very more gorgeous result. My x-BIL does similar with glass. Seems obvious to do same with Montana's..... Glad you did it. Maybe make one myself. Always good to fool around by candlelight. Better candle might enhance.....

Russ Russ, can you explain the copper foil method? Probably not coherently. Basically one wraps each piece of stone or glass with copper foil tape. Apply flux and then solder. Takes a decent soldering iron. That's it in a nutshell. Russ
