Etsy is now offering its users to have their items hosted on a standalone website for a monthly fee. I have been wanting my own domain and this would be a simple way to get started but it will run about $180 a year. I was just wondering what the other Etsy users here are thinking on the matter. One of my biggest concerns is whether or not it will increase sales enough to offset the fee. I am just wondering if someone types something like "pudding stone jewelery" into google if it will bring up my stuff on this new etsy pattern site? This is a quick sample of one of the new site formats. Chuck

As far as I can tell, it is just a shell or a GUI. I won't be getting it. One problem of many that I see is that you will technically have your items listed in both. That means you will be punished by the google machine for having duplicate content. You have to use Etsy checkout, which I don't use. Buyers still need to use their etsy account and the receipts will have your name and etsy's name. So, it isn't like your own domain.

I think it all depends on your current monthly sales. If there's just an easy PayPal button I think people would be more inclined to buy because they don't have to sign up for an etsy account. I didn't know about this thanks for sharing.
^^^^*as stated above me....
