Howdy folks, Found this three footer on my way to pick up the mail. Basking right smack dab in the middle of the road with a car coming so he was gonna get run over. Only had my crappy camera so I had the wife snap a couple of shots before I turned him loose in a close by safer spot. We have two color phases here on the ranch, one simply dark brown and tan and then this nice one, sort of an orange phase. Storm coming so no sun, but this fellow is much brighter than the pic......Mel

This rat snake was a bit cool so more docile. Usually these are savage boogers and really bite aggressively when cornered. Second one of this color phase I've found. I love the color variations we find here on the Edwards plateau. Saw a whiptail type lizard this AM that was bright green on the front half. Super cool
That example in your pic is really pretty. Did you raise that one yourself?....Mel
