Thank you everyone here who is so passionate about using rocks other than agates for lapidary work. When I tumbled and cut in the 70’s and 80’s, I was always looking for that elusive agate. You have shown me the value in other types of rocks and how beautiful they are when properly finished. Sure I worked with lots of AZ rocks when living there, but was still looking for agates. Nothing against them, as they are beautiful, but so are many other types of rocks.
I also sprung for more internet time, so I could do lots of searches here. The amount of info available is amazing. Just what I needed. Will be shaping, polishing and drilling some cuts I have in the near future.

My hounding friend and I hound and cut most everything we find...LOL Most of the time,it turns out pretty cool......Most are not agates either....
