Hey gang, are we allowed to post photos of polymer clay creations? I'm taking a break from using metals and I have to say that polymer clay is a blast. You can make some amazing stuff and it's like being a kid again. Plus, you never know what you'll get till you're finished. I tend not to use stones, but Swarovski crystals. Thanks.

Why not? There have been posts with other innovative ideas to hold stones including macrame. I would like to see them.

Great, thanks. Turns out, after watching tons of youtube videos, that I still have a lot to learn. And the tools and supplies can be almost as expensive as metal supplies.

Jugglerguy's daughter makes some really cute stuff with polymer clay. I think he may have posted some here awhile ago. Chuck

Hell yeah, post away. I'd love to see it. Have you seen the faux rock cabs people do? Some of them are amazing.

herchenx made some pendants out of polymer clay. My daughter's pictures are in this thread too. Here it is.

Some good stuff there in that link. Thanks. I've got some photos I'll transfer. I'm working on making faux opal and it was going well until the freaking glitter got all over everything -- me, the bed, the floor, the dog, the kitchen -- and all the other pieces I had finished that didn't require glitter. !!!!! I ended up sanding some of them down, but now have to shine them up again a bit.

No pictures, but polymer clay works great with stones. Push them into the design and pull enough clay over to lock it in. There is no shrinkage. I ordered a low fire silver clay kit a few days ago. That will shrink and I'll seek help in setting stones in rings soon. I have three rubies to work with, but can't afford mistakes at $75 per carat.

I captured a large-ish Aventurine cab I got for a buck into clay and it worked great. Too big and heavy for jewelry, I glued the piece onto a small vase and filled it with sand and rocks. A really pretty little display. I have to add some photos.
