Just went on a club outing to the mountains near Rachel, Nevada. Did not see any UFOs or ETs but did find some great stuff. They don't have UFO's at area 51 silly. They are working on time travel there.....I thought everyone knew that. That last pic. Is that almandine garnet?

I found a lot of garnet but these were my favorite specimens. The first rock pic is garnets, magnesite and galena. The second rock pic is epidote crystals, magnesite, garnets and pyrite. Not sure on the 3rd rock pic. It has the same color as the garnets but seems to be shaped a little different. Someone found a piece that looked similar and said it was wulfenite, but this is pretty dark for wulfenite. Anyone have any ideas? The 4th rock pic is pyrite. The 5th rock pic is garnets, magensite and pyrite.

Some good looking finds you've got there. You must have your partner trained to sniff out the good stuff. Going to have to send mine to mineral sniffing school, they only know how to find milk-bones.

Great garnets. I think 3 could be wulfenite - might be difficult to tell without a loupe, but some visible xtls look like wulfenite. Might be some mimetite there, too.

I looked at it under magnification and it is a mixture of garnet, wulfenite and pyrite. It is impossible to see the wulfenite with the naked eye because the dark color of the garnets masks the orangish wulfenite.

Nah, she was having fun scaring people in the mine. She was back there in the dark and one guy went in and said all he could hear was the panting and did not know what was back in the mine. One of these days I wold like to see if I can train her to smell the nickel in meteorites.

Wow! Nice finds. I always like to see and hear about Jax, too. It's so nice to have such a great companion.

Great looking rocks you found. I love it that Jax was the mystery monster of the mine...LOL.
