My wife Tammy and I took off to Montana to a family reunion and to do some rockhounding......We took more time off than the other years, but it seemed like it still wasn't enough... We took our time traveling, trying to squeeze in a few hours of hounding on the upper Yellowstone Rive, between Livingston and Gardiner.. We did great there, found some tumble material and some nice rough of quartz and agates... One agate I have on the slideshow was buried, with just a piece of it showing,I dug it out and it was a heavy brute! Everyone there says it might be "Madison Blue" agate...Never heard of it,till I googled it... We packed up after that and headed to Roundup to stay the week in Montana.... I did some fossil hounding in the Melstone area and to my surprise,Tammy went went with me (Rattle snakes and all).... She did great and found many fossils too... While in Roundup I hooked up with one of my three Uncles(Richard) that taught me rockhounding at the age of 7 years old! He took me out to his rock pile and said help myself....Plus he gave me some dino bone, jaspers, agate and etc..... My Nephew Bruce lives in Billings and is a hounder too, hounding the Yellowstone River and lower tributaries... We did some horsetrading and teaching each other new things about rocks... Also did some bartering at the Rock shop in Billings on the old Hardin Road in Lockwood, for some "Biggs" jasper (left with a 50 pound rough).... The car was running heavy on the 1200 mile trip home, but she did great...... Will post videos later on too.....Thanks for looking.... s29.photobucket.com/user/fossilman01/slideshow/Montana%20Trip%202016
