Not a fan of their meat. If you ever cut into the stomach of a gator you may never want to eat it. Deer stomach bad, gator stomach incredible stinch.

Many gator hunters use a service that will come to your location and do a prime job butchering it for you. In exchange for skin skull and other parts. Gator leather is fine. Great coop.

Old timers do. well. let's say cruel trick to keep a gator fresh till ready to butcher. They use a razor blade to paralyze him and then leave him in the water with his head out so he can breathe. He can only breathe and blink his eyes. Certain that it is his spinal nerve, and it is very close to the skin, able to be cut with a single edge razor.

Truly, I would not want to catch an alligator of any size!
Once you have it, what do you do with it?? Where do you put it??

Just heard a story on the news a couple nights ago. Mississippi's longest alligator on record from public waters. But only 13 foot, 7 7/8 inch long, and 686 lbs. Doesn't hold a candle to the 15' 9" giant caught in Alabama a couple years ago. That one weighed over half a ton.

Liking these natural colored boots! They call it "Hornback", never seen them so lumpy before. Guess it just depends which part of the alligator you use.

Me too, Pat. Earthquakes have never bothered me. Staying up all night to make sure property doesn't flood does. Have a sump pump in my back yard behind the garage, because the ground is sloped incorrectly. PVC pipe buried in the ground takes the water around the house and dumps it out to the street. Just have to worry about power outages! Not much rain this year, or the last few, for that matter. But someday, maybe the "big one" (earthquake) will hit, and we'll all go swimming in the ocean. NOT!

That happened at the KY bend, a crazy spot that sits separated from the rest of the state. Gotta go through Tennessee to get there. Population 20.

I've never seen it. Crossed the river about 30 miles upstream, but never went down to TN to see Reelfoot Lake and such. People around here still buy earthquake insurance because of the New Madrid fault.

Otherwise, I will be left to assume that you are an alien being with skills and tools beyond my comprehension. That will help me sleep at night, even if it's not true. =)"

I was about to say 'I'll take alien over ass anyday', but that just sounded wrong.

I was about to say 'I'll take alien over ass anyday', but I had to take that back.
I see the excellent logic of huskeric and the evolution of the adjectives described herein.
