Does anyone know how much it costs to reclaim an area such as the small claim that Don and Shotgunner are discussing in the Minersville thread? It can't be very cheap.

Does anyone know how much it costs to reclaim an area such as the small claim that Don and Shotgunner are discussing in the Minersville thread? It can't be very cheap. Depends on who is doing it. That Linda Marie dude fills his holes after every dig. So cost is diesel and time. He rents a backhoe for a month at a time. They require a reclamation bond on claims I understand. $150,000 is the common number I see and hear. Bonds usually cost 10%. $15k per year. Add that to your cost of producing the stones. How many pounds will be mined? If BLM does it? That is open to the whim of the BLM boss I suppose. Hoping to hear from others myself.

reclaim bonds depending on size of claim is around 10,000 if they put 150000 on it it is because they want you out

Yeah, we had a lot of mines on BLM land around our ranch in Commiefornia. There was a huge push by the government to get the miners out so not only were bonds high but the miners were constantly harassed about camping or living on their properties while mining. Can't cost as much as they claim for the reclamation work because BLM was constantly filling in mine tunnels in back of our place. Just a day or two work with a big bulldozer, maybe a few thousand bucks. Nothing like 100K. BLM is definitely no friend of the miner....Mel
