I made everyone in the family and a few others a keychain for Christmas. I took a few quick pictures along the way. Some I forgot. Unfortunately, as I am discovering, metal finishes are hard to photograph. Just imagine these look better in real life. For my son the who is a barista at the moment. Finish actually looks much better in person- but not anymore since it has been on his keyring. For my Dr. This one came out real nice with a real deep look. The lettering looks frosted in the right light. For my granddaughter This is for a very good friend who has pet rats. This finish came out incredible with a very holographic look when you move it in the light. Really cool. Just have to remember how I did.... I was also playing around with adding texture. The following 2 pictures are the same one. One side for air conditioning and one side for heating. Grandson is studying hvac. I took the pics before they were totally finished. He was real happy with it. these two attempt to show the cool finish on this splatter for my brother. I have started doing some silver, too. I am using the salt and dc current method. I'm still working out the kinks. Not not sure how well I like it. I'm going to try it with ferric nitrate, too, and see which I like best. I really enjoy the piercing and etching. I have lots of plans in mind for it. Mostly, my mind goes to earrings. I'll get plenty of use out of my dopping set, too. Thanks for looking and "listening" to me babble.

Cool designs. Very personal and thoughtful gifts. I like the doctor one best. Did you hand cut the heating and cooling one with the Jump ring ear on it? I seen rio sells some blanks like that.

I have been hand cutting mine too but I think if I do many more circles I will just buy the blanks or invest in a disc cutting set. What's with the splatter design? For a painter or maybe someone has a paintball hobby?

For a painter or maybe someone has a paintball hobby? Chuck I have a disc cutting set, but I think the biggest is only an inch. It's more for bead caps and earring size. If you get one, spend the extra money for a few larger sizes. The (blood) splatter is for my brother who has a dark sense of humor. Your guesses are better. LOL! ETA- I just checked www.ottofrei.com/Store/search/?search=disc+cutter apparently with larger sizes they suggest you use a hydraulic press.

Is there no end to your talent ? Very nice gifts . I especially like the one with the cat . Got a little choked up when I saw that one as we lost our cat of 19 years just before Christmas . Really nice and detailed work on the keychains .

Yeah , he was like having a kid . Brought the little guy home when he was 6 weeks old so it was pretty tough to see him go .

I like your etching projects. Your taste matches mine but you execute better than I do! I've played around with etching a little bit - you'll like the result with silver. I use Ferric Nitrate on a coffee cup warmer (takes about the same time as copper that way). It doesn't make those cool little jaggy patterns that copper makes though.

I just got some ferric nitrate shipped to me. I want to give the electric etch on silver one more chance. I have a bigger transformer on the way that should help. After this- I'm done. I have tried absolutely everything and have done it all right. So, ferric nitrate it will be. I will say that the salt water electric etch works great on copper, with a nice clean deep etch. (No interesting lines, though.)
