sodalite is pretty cool tho....wide variance in color..some light blue some dark, almost black. white stripes, a nice rock, i just got some (almost) done in this last batch and i got a nice threesome for earrings and pendant. fingers crosses i can drill them without messing one...that is the final clinch, isn't it...a months labor of patience and then the final make or break it moment......
zzzzzzzzst...dam!

But if that's sodalte, hell I got a piece almost that size for about 15 bucks And I can't get it to polish. Something happens in the polish stage. But I have a secret weapon now. SSHHH... can't tell cookie

Sandman, Did you see the link to the rutilated quartz? An iddy bitty piece for $5.00. I'm not absolutely certain that what your getting will contain rutilated, but I'm almost sure. I couldn't believe how much of what I picked up for myself turned out to be. Those people are mighty pruod of what they have. cookie

At the risk of being apparentlyh heritic, sugalite is unbelieveably pricy. Unless I could hold it, I would not speculate over the net, however, I might be tempted at a rock show, or private vendor. Cut, that stone could be worth many thousands in the right piece of jewelery. That is the kicker, cut and the right piece of jewelery. Caveat emptor.

Doesn't look like they really want to get rid of it, or they think there is a fool out there that would really want it for that price. I would pay a little more for the rock if they knew more about it, but that is rediculious. Tami

There is an article in the recent Rock and Gem magazine about rocks and gems from the Kalahari Desert in Africa. One of the gemstones was sugilite. They said that they don't aren't finding much sugilite, anymore.
There is also an add by a company called Art by God who was selling sugilite for $30 a pound. Much less than the person on Ebay. But,$30 a pound is a little rich to much for me. Not to mention the tiny piece on Ebay!
