White topaz in a design called "Future Tech" that looks like atomic orbitals. It's also the biggest I've done, at a little over 3 carats.

That is just incredible. What do stones like that go for? Megabucks I guess. I have never seen anything like that for sale.

That is just incredible. What do stones like that go for? Megabucks I guess. I have never seen anything like that for sale. Sadly, white topaz isn't a particularly expensive stone, and there aren't that many people willing to shell out for the time of American precision faceting. Much of the end value seems to be in the rough itself, and precision cutting doesn't seem to add as much of a premium as expected, unless you're a famous facetor who's won awards and such. gemfeller definitely has a much better understanding of faceted stone pricing than I do. I haven't actually sold any (yet?), just given them away. That being said, though this particular one is NFS, I'd estimate I couldn't ask for more than $150-200 and expect to sell it. Took about 10 hours to cut and polish.

As I thought. Our hobbies just defray our costs and will not make us rich. But still that is just a flat out gorgeous stone. Just think of making a piece of jewelry out of that for a special someone. Talk about a heirloom.
