Leave it to Jean, rockpickerforever . That took, what, one minute? You are definitely one of my life lines if I make it onto that Millionaire game show. Sh*t she beat me to it! Knew it right off! Great flick.

Showed this before, pic a couple years old. Different rocks on shelves now and storage dresser under work bench is gone and has been replaced with milk crates full of rocks. As someone else wrote, stuff is spread out where ever I can make more room. Have six 15 lb tumblers running now. Two out on the back porch and even have one on a shelf in my bathroom. Notice I said MY bathroom! She who must be obeyed would not allow such in her space. 24" saw in shed. 14" saw in garage. Vibrating laps on back porch (screened in 35x15' porch) Rocks EVERYWHERE that I can get away with.

Ya know what, after some consideration, I'll give you that. But the difference between us is, I'll do one Jean-day-units-of work in a day, and get up the next day, rarin' to go. Fired out of a canon, as you like to say. You, you'll do the 10 Jean-day-units-of work, then be laid up, old (60! Ha ha!) and sore, for the next week recuperating. Did I hit the nail on the head, dear brother James? Now, have you got that trailer load of fire pit bowls unloaded yet? Or are you just slackin' now? Hop to it, boy!

OK, I told you my space was small..... so don't laugh. I have TONS of stuff crammed into my space. Believe it or not, it is pretty well organized. My work space is my (now) beat up kitchen table. It seats 8 and is pretty damn big. One side is mine, the other is my DH's. He has to have his hobby space, too. Right now, he is working on his first wooden model ship. I have 2 bookcases behind me that hold a lot of my stuff. My rocks are outside and in the mudroom (and not as well organized as I'd like- another project). The top left is mostly metalworking/soldering tools. The bottom left is my right hand table, also for metal working (see my cool foredom pole with the swinging shelves?). 3rd shelf down on the right has my wire wrapping tools. Those simply get moved over to the table when I work. There's another lower shelf on the table and bookcases crammed with stuff. (I like that word "stuff".) There is probably 1/4 more than you actually see plus all the stuff in bins, baskets and boxes. My acetylene is under the table strapped to the leg of the metalworking table with a fire extinguisher nearby in the escape route. Here's my other table (right hand). Eventually, when the grand kids leave, I am setting this up with my rolling mill. Right now it holds mostly metal working tools and serves my dop pot, too. The blue thing on the edge holds my bench pin. The test tube racks holds blades and files. My wire working tools hang off the side of a shoebox bin with lesser used tools inside. The frequently used wire is on top and the rest stored in a big bin. The cardboard box holds cabs and misc stuff as well as often used smaller tools. This is how I set it up and then I simply put it back on the shelf behind me when I'm done or we need the table for other things. I have a 17" laptop, which is a fixture on my table. No one even uses the desktop, anymore. Why we still have it, I don't know. I do have another nicer table put away. This one is getting really beat up between what I do and what DH does. But we don't mind. Without our hobbies, we'd go insane. When I cab, I have DH or my son move Gene to the table. He's too heavy for me. Well, not too heavy, but too big. He has a permanent spot in the livingroom. I have a tilesaw and a smaller trimsaw. They are in the shed. I have no room for a big slab saw. Besides, I think the neighbors would burn me out if I ran that thing. I live in a city. People too close. So, there you have it folks, the grand tour. You've heard of Tiny Houses, right? My tiny shop. I'm a little embarrassed to show it.

Yes rockpickerforever. Used the tractor lift to make it easier. He sends me all the thick ones. They have defects mind you, the other guys don't want to mess w/them. Some were 1/2 inch thick and 4 feet across. HEAVY. Tractor does the most of the lifting.

rockjunquie - Its not how big your work area is its how you use it. Yours is a prime example. Chuck

Wooden model ship pics! Please. He's learning how to make the miniature rope and rigging right now. I bought him a special tool for Christmas and he modified it. It's a lot more difficult to do than one would imagine. Kinda crazy all the work that goes into those ships! Here's an older picture. He has a lot more done on it now. I'll get a picture the next time he has it out.

Doesn't it look inviting? 6" rim and snuffer table top. Not James rugged, but going on 9 years.

My house hums 1dave . Neighbor once asked if I had seen a bee hive around my yard because of the humming. He was worried. Tumbling and sawing/polishing is as far as I go. Never bitten by the cab bug. Don't know what I would do with them if I ever started making them, so I don't. My main rock interest is display specimens. Just got into this rough rock area in the past 10 years or so. But when I get "into" something, I tend to go a bit overboard.

Like I said,I have limited space,so most of my machines are on benches I built, that have rolling caster wheels...I roll everything out to the car port..LOL Cabbing machine, tumblers and rock saw (to the right)... My "Poly" stays in a corner, under the carport.....wrapped up,when not in use... Trim saw in in the storage shop, with my rocks, its on a portable wood base stand, that I can take anywhere...... As for tools,I have them laying everywhere.....Being a mechanic and carpenter,I have lots....I like having a tool right there and not have to go chase one down...LOL

Red crocks no match for hot pink boots. Wonder if they are thigh boots ? How about a welding shop. I would love to come explore your welding shop (grounds)! Maybe even pick up another new hobby. That looks interesting. He has a private landing strip and a free cabin for visitors.
