Thanks Rick and Adam. Hopefully I'll update on Sunday evening - going to the shop to cut some more Sunday afternoon. Cutting the stones was so much easier with the Pinolith - 1 slab, a few cuts on the trim saw and about an hour on the wheels (total!) and I had 8 matching cabs. Not so much with Lavic. :/

I'm liking those as much as the last group. I like how they are all different but will work together well. Yeah, it's a slow hobby, but faster than growing rocks.

Lol yeah, faster than growing them rockjunquie! I was happy that I seem to now have TWO red brecciated types - hopefully one of them will turn out good. It would be a shame to make a Lavic bracelet with no red brekker!

Please don't forget to show us the steps as you make your "dreaming bracelet".

Hi all. I'll take pictures later in the day when the sun is higher. Morning sun here makes bad pictures for me. I have the survivors from the new batch shaped on rough grind and a couple finished with 325 wheel. I have the survivors from the original grind up to 1200. (I've been busy with other life things). I should have them all finished by the end of the weekend though, hoping. Then you can help me decide which ones make the cut.

Then you can help me decide which ones make the cut. Will a bracelet decided on by a committee look like a camel?

Then you can help me decide which ones make the cut. Will a bracelet decided on by a committee look like a camel? It might, but I am the grand poobah and will intervene to prevent such a calamity.

Wow! Coming along real well. I love stones number 18+19. Great mossy patterns! Love your comment about this being a slow hobby. You are dead on on that. I've gotten so I hate sitting at the cabbing wheels. It's soooooo booooooooring! I like sawing best but still, on the Covington, twenty minutes per cut and I ain't gettin any younger. Man!......Mel
PS: I suppose I should not complain. I still remember the little Sears six inch horizontal saw my pop bought me when I was eleven or so. Every rock had to be hand fed through the blade and it took like forever as blades back then cut really slow.

It's soooooo booooooooring! Audiobooks help a lot. ;-) (Bluetooth earbuds if you're worried about catching the wire).

Okay, here we go, time for audience participation! Including the last batch, I now have 9 cabs that I like pretty much. Some more than others. These are finished through the 1200 wheel. 2 of them through the 3000 wheel. I'll take the winners to 14,000 probably. I already eliminated a bunch that I didn't like. You get to help me decide which 7 make the cut for the bracelet - 2 are getting voted off! Don't go by shape - I can reshape them pretty easily if they look too fat or too thin when they're lined up. So why don't you give me the two you think should get the ax! I'll veto of course if I don't agree, but interested in what you think. Here's the group shot: Number them like this: Closeups: #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9

I'm thinking you should leave off 4 and 9 and keep that redder one for the center.

My vote is leaving out 4 & 5, like Tela's suggestion about using the red one for the center.

I think #3. My reasoning is that it has so much more "white" in it's make-up...more than any of the others. Now for the 2nd discard...oh, now that gets hard. No. 7 because the "white" splotch (bottom right) is too bright compared to the others marbling. Note: #'s 7 & 8 can't be next to each other...they need to be separated. Yaw, I know...I don't know diddly, but you did ask, now just don't follow any of my suggestions and you'll be fine!
