I would say get rid of 3 and 6 due to the white.

Hi folks. I know I'm getting in a little late on the discussion, but I say 3 and 7 are voted off the island. Three for the white and seven for the pattern. Susan, great project!!! Love what you're doing with the Lavic! Great colors and patterns!!! The bracelet will be killer!

1 and 9 is this the way you would orient them horizontal, or maybe get rid of 1 and orient them vertical?

They'll all be oriented vertically right next to each otehr, if that affects your recommendations. Voting will stay open for a good while, I'm going on a trip and can't work on it next weekend. Interesting the different thoughts here! Thanks!

I think it should be 1-8-5-2-6-9-7 kind of matching ether side of the red center one. My wife thinks 2-4-5-9-3-7-8 kind of a running order. By the way she did give me permission to post my idea even though she thinks knows I am wrong. Good luck, it will be beautiful no matter the order or cabs used...........................................MrP

The fashionista in me would say to leave out 2 and 3 . My thoughts are they would be distracting to the others . The totally realistic unfashionista in me says to leave the choices to the more fashion minded . They are all very nice stones .

BTW... I really like #3 as a stand alone stone. As a matter of fact, it's my favorite overall, but I just think it is an odd-stone-out in the group.

Impressed with the conversion of rocks to rectangles. Respecting the amount of work to extract the prime. Many do not realize the amount of work that goes into a select cab.

Haha, yeah jamesp, especially with brecciated jaspers, where the pattern changes a lot from the preform to the cab. You get those white spots in random places that were more artistically placed on the preform itself. But that's the game!

Shoot, I like'em all no matter how you orient them. I especially like the mossy ones and you look like you really nailed some solid Lavics too.
But then, my wife always asks me what shade of red something is and I say, "Shade? Red is red right?" She replies " No, is this flower more scarlet, Magenta, Ruby, Crimson etc?" I reply to that, "Do I freaking look like I have a vagina? I'm a dude! It's freaking red!".....Mel

I say vote off 4 and 7. I like the white of #3; adds more contrast and interest and picks up on the white of the others.
4 because it has the least interesting pattern. 7 because it's similar to 6/8/9 and has an unattractive blob in the middle.
6/8/9 are the most similar to each other, so I would equally space them out, so something like 3-6-1-8-2-9-5.
Alternatively, if you don't like the white of #3, I would vote off 3 and 4 and equally space 6/7/8/9 like: 6-1-7-2-8-5-9.

Too funny Sabre52! melhill1659, I take my classes at a local class given by a retired engineer who knows jewelry making. It's held in an adult school that has mainly citizenship classes in the evenings. They're only silversmithing classes though, no lapidary. I take a couple sessions a year - making it to a 6pm-9pm Monday/Wednesday class after work for 4 weeks in a row is tough. I've been wanting to learn hinges for a long time though. We learned a WAY easier method than most of the online videos show - will describe that when I get further into the project. The benefit of the teacher being an engineer!

This needs framing "The benefit of the teacher being an engineer!" We'll take anything we can get. After the degree is had being a student is often out of the question. A hands on engineer another story. Looks like a great learning experience.

Ok, I'm back from Utah, will compile the results and decide which stones to polish (or might just polish them all) and get cracking on this. Thanks for being so patient!
