Not sure this is the right place to put this. I have to get a mod to move it if it isn't. I get asked by clients what a thunder egg is. So, I did a blog on it. If you feel like checking it out, let me know if you think I missed something or have some glaring error. I'm certainly no expert. I did the best I could in trying to keep it relatively simple. You may recognize a few of the pictures. www.telaformosa.com/blog/what-is-a-thunderegg-thunderegg-or-t-egg

Pretty close to what it says...... We have a saying around here: " A Thunderegg can be a geode, but a Geode cannot be a thunderegg.... So many varieties of eggs out there, that blog just barely touched the surface of eggs.... The colors, shapes, sizes, still totally amaze me!!!!! Yes,The exterior of thunder eggs is rhyolite, after that all bets are off,on what the interior holds....That's why I love thundereggs... We have a thunderegg "King" in Oregon,he is known from here to Europe, his name is Jason Hinkle...(He use to be on the forum here)..Still might be.. He eats, sleeps and works eggs!!!!

Yeah Jason has a shop and a claim by lucky strike thunder egg mine. He sure loves them to. Richardson's Rock ranch is another good place for great geodes and also for buying good rough of many things. Lots of African and Aussie material, Really good prices on it too. Their tumbler mix is very exotic from butts, trim and such from their shaping shop mixed in. Neat tumble material.

Well done. Lots of good information without getting too technical.
